About this role

Technical Writer within Textron Integrated Product Support Services (IPSS) will develop technical manual documentation for complex equipment platforms. The role includes analyzing engineering data/drawings, authoring technical manuals and IETMs, and coordinating reviews and validation to meet compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze engineering data and drawings for required publication content
Develop theory of operation, operating instructions, and maintenance instructions
Create technical manual and IETM work products in MS Word and XML tools
Complete edits for compliance with applicable specifications, standards, validation, and verification
Coordinate and participate in review conferences, IPT meetings, and validation events

Technical Overview

You will author technical publications including theory of operation, operator instructions, troubleshooting, and maintenance instructions, including remove-and-replace procedures and Repair Parts and Special Tools Lists. IETM work is performed using XML with WebX UltraAuthor, Arbortext, or EAGLE Publishing System, with graphics/illustrations created in NX Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Corel. You will also execute validation and verification edits for compliance and accuracy.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a technical writer experienced in producing technical manuals and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) using MS Word and structured XML authoring tools. They can analyze engineering data and drawings, write operating and maintenance instructions, and ensure publications meet validation, verification, and quality-control requirements. They collaborate closely with engineering and logistics product data teams and coordinate reviews with internal and external customers.
