About this role
Support transportation planning with an environmental focus for public and private clients across the US West Region, based in Phoenix, AZ. The role conducts environmental data research, prepares maps and reports, supports environmental document and permit work, and helps coordinate stakeholder and public engagement activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and data analysis for environmental effects of transportation improvements
- Prepare reports and maps using GIS
- Support development of planning documents, environmental documents, permits, and alternatives analysis
- Interpret and compare findings for compliance with local, state, and Federal requirements
- Coordinate stakeholder/public engagement and prepare meeting summaries and status reports
Technical Overview
Perform data-driven environmental impact research related to transportation improvements, using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyze data and produce maps. Assist with development of environmental documents, permits, alternatives analysis, and compliance with local, state, and Federal planning and environmental requirements, with attention to Arizona environmental disciplines like Clean Water Act permitting and Section 4(f).
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an entry-level Transportation Planner II with a BA/BS and around 2+ years of relevant experience (or equivalency) focused on environmental review for transportation projects. They are comfortable using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyze data, prepare maps and reports, support permits and alternatives analysis, and help coordinate stakeholder/public engagement activities.
