Tunneling & Trenchless Engineer II

AECOM is hiring a Tunneling & Trenchless Engineer II for work in their Houston, TX office supporting trenchless and tunneling projects across North America. The role includes design support, engineering calculations, site observations, and construction/services oversight with schedule and budget management and client interaction.

• Preparing engineering calculations supporting trenchless or tunneling designs and developing drawings and visual aids
• Conducting site visits and observation of Ground and site conditions
• Interpreting and applying geotechnical, geologic or hydrogeologic investigation results in supporting designs
• Performing trenchless engineering tasks using standard techniques, procedures and criteria
• Assisting with project planning, design and construction services oversight, schedule/budget management and client interface

Responsibilities span preparing engineering calculations and developing drawings/visual aids for trenchless/tunneling designs, conducting site visits and observations, and applying geotechnical, geologic, and hydrogeologic investigation results. The role focuses on trenchless methods such as horizontal directional drilling (HDD), microtunneling (MT), guided bore, and related installation techniques across industries like oil & gas, water & wastewater, telecommunications, and power.

The ideal candidate is a Civil or Geotechnical Engineering BA/BS graduate with 2+ years of relevant trenchless and tunneling experience. They have hands-on familiarity with methods such as horizontal directional drilling (HDD), microtunneling (MT), and guided bore, and can support designs using geotechnical/geologic/hydrogeologic investigation results. They communicate well with clients and project teams while contributing to schedule and budget management.
